Lakewood, New York. Located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains this small town is known for it’s friendly citizens and tight-knit neighborhood. Nothing usually happens here at Lakewood, until a group of high school students discovered a blog, following their every move. They didn’t pay much attention to it at first, it was just a gossip blog, right? Well, that’s what it was until the author threatened to reveal incredibly frightening secrets. Still the students have kept the blog to themselves, worried about angering the awful author. The blog has recently taken it a step further and began a secret paparazzi that nobody can pinpoint. Can the town live their lives in fear forever?

“Can you keep a secret?”

Lakewood, New York. Located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains this small town is known for it’s friendly citizens and tight-knit neighborhood. Sample paragraph (at least a paragraph)

Avery breathed in the crisp, fresh morning air as she stepped into the park. She’d only been back in Lakewood for a short time. Initially, she didn’t want to stay in Lakewood. That’s the reason she’d left her son and boyfriend behind in the first place. Avery wanted to travel, not be bogged down here where she had responsibilites and people to take care of. That wasn’t the life she wanted. But…after being away for a few years, that changed. Avery realized she missed Adam. She missed Kellen even though she’d hardly gotten the chance to see him. She wanted to be there for him and give him the mother he needed…if he even needed her anymore.

And so, that brought her back to Lakewood. She didn’t know why the park was the first place she headed to. Perhaps because Adam and her spent a few dates there. But either way, she was here, and decided that casually walking about the park or seating herself on a bench would be a good way to get a breath of fresh air for a while, to clear her head and figure out what to do now that she was back. However, that plan of action didn’t quite go through, because as Avery began walking towards and empty bench, she caught sight of someone familiar in the corner of her eye. Upon closer inspection, Avery found that her suspicions were correct - it was Adam. A fit of panic setting through her, Avery quickly turned her head away, making sure he hadn’t spotted her. Yes, she wanted to see him again, but this was too soon. She wasn’t prepared for it, and she didn’t want to see him just yet. So instead, she headed for the opposite direction of the park, where there’d be little chance of him seeing her.

Finding an empty bench well hidden from his eyes, she sat down, instinctively letting out a deep breath as she tried to get her thoughts in order. So, Adam was here in this park. Did that mean Kellen was here, too? As the thought struck her, she looked up, eyes glancing over the kids racing about the playground. None of them really struck her as familiar, but then again, she hadn’t seen Kellen in just over three years. Who’s to say she’d actually be able to recognize him?

But, before she could look harder, Avery was interrupted by a ball flying towards her. Eyes widening in surprise, she quickly shielded her face and the ball bounced off her hand, landing on the ground just in front of her. Now safe, she looked down at the ground to see it was a red, bouncy ball - about medium sized so a younger child could play with it but not small enough to be swallowed or easily lost. Avery picked it up just in time to see a small kid scurrying over, and she assumed this was the owner of the ball. A small sense of familiarity lingered as she looked at the young boy. She couldn’t quite place it, but she felt like she knew him…

“I’m sorry, Miss. That’s my ball,” the little boy told her, wearing an apologetic expression on his face. Avery gave him a smile and handed it over to him, and he gladly took it, hugging it to his chest. “It’s ok, it didn’t hurt me. Just make sure you’re careful,” she told him.

The boy beamed at her, and Avery’s own smile grew wider. “My name’s Kellen! You should play ball with me!” the boy suggested, and Avery’s heart nearly stopped. Kellen. The reason he seemed so familiar was because he was her son. All she wanted to do was gather him up in her arms. Cry, apologize, let him know she loved him…but she couldn’t. This wasn’t the time and news like this should be dropped on him in a better way. So, as much as she wanted to do all these things, Avery restrained herself. Instead, she gave him a warm smile and nodded. “I’d love to play with you, Kellen.”

“I’m willing to be bullied because, I don’t want anyone to know I’m dyslexic.”

Amanda is one of the sweetest people you could meet. She’s friendly, helpful, and loving. The one problem is, she’s severely bullied. She’s been living in Lakewood her entire life and, since she began school she’s had trouble reading and understanding her work. Her grades have been dropping and girls at school have been calling her things like “retard”. Which hurts her deep down. She tries to keep her dyslexia, that she was diagnosed with when she was 13 a secret, worried about even more hate.

“I accidentally burned down the church and let someone else take the blame.”

Last summer was very eventful. Breann was 16 years old, totally carefree. She had just moved to Lakewood the previous year, and was enjoying herself. July 15th was when her summer took a turn for the worst. The patch of land behind the local church was a hotspot for teens. Breann was spending time with a few friends, when they asked her if she wanted to try smoking. The young, blonde said yes and tried it. Not enjoying it much she flung the burning cigarette towards the church. Minutes later it was up in flames. A young, rough looking kid named Bentley Evans took the blame saying it was him who threw the cigarette. He is one of the most hated people in town, Breann can’t help but feel a little guilty.
